Fashion Means Business | Garance Doré and Scott Schuman


  NEW YORK, USA - The Business of Blogging is an important issue for a long time on BoF. While

many have treated as nothing more than a novelty or a fad in the media, bloggers, we were

proud of the choice to sit and watch with the most influential bloggers in the industry as

they gain publicity and monetization of their profession. And our first interview with the

inimitable Susie Bubble, we have shown that for some influential voices, blogging is a serious

matter indeed, and there are many ways to monetize a blog mode.

Back in 2005, long before the social media revolution has changed the fashion industry swept,

a fashion enthusiast company began named Scott Schuman to share photos on a blog called Simply

The Sartorialist, after the success of the Design Sponge blog from outside the fashion

industry, which has served as inspiration. Of course, Mr. Schuman could not believe that he

now gives rise to a widespread phenomenon called "street style", which has been an integral

part of the experience of the week to lead the fashion.

Today, Mr. Schuman is a photographer published successfully, having sold more than 100,000

copies of his first book, and works what is described as a media company producing niche

books, events, products and partnerships is of course the Sartorialist website itself. As if

to underline its longevity, it remains the number one blogger in the regular style 99 fashion

blogger ranking, despite losing all pinching his heels.

But the story is not all. It would be too easy.

A few years later, in 2008, Mr. Schuman Garance Doré met for the first time in Paris. She

blogs to share with his illustrations online experiments and the two became fast friends.

Schuman immediately saw the potential of women and Doré are encouraged to reach beyond their

comfort zone and start taking photographs. As it turns out, Schuman has a smart bet and the

divine Ms. Doré quickly developed into one of the most prominent (and internationally

recognized) bloggers in the industry, with a unique perspective of his own. She earns her

living from a combination of advertising revenue and co-brand and has recently focused on the

content of the video, for which she was operated to create the luxury conglomerate PPR and

Sportswear a series of short films for the change in name of the group Kering , the action

will take place in June.

Today Schuman and Doré are partners in life and business partners. Was jointly CFDA Eugenia

Sheppard Media Award prices last year, she also won the respect of an industry that now she

has embraced - and fashion blogs in general.

Thus, in the final days of the campaign Voice Webby Award for the people, we greet all our

brothers in blogs, Diane Pernet, fashion blogger original and Susie Bubble, the last names to

reach the summit, Emily Weiss of Into the Gloss, and Leandra Medine, aka The Man Repeller.

These are our latest examples of how fashion is serious.
