Goodwill Both Gucci?
I recently received a press release promoting a new store called Goodwill Store. Read the headline.? "Concept Store Community Tustin overflows with articles realigned brand, including brands like Gucci and Christian Dior" My first reaction What, where, when, how and why am I still sitting here?
I'm not a big Thrifter. The process of collecting piles of clothes before maybe, you might find a little gem I've always been intimidated. I like the idea of someone else do the hard work, even if it means a small fee premium.
The store, located in a shopping center in the old town of Tustin, is trendy little sister goodwill. It is always fixed (certainly not as a "boutique-y" as I had imagined it), but it feels closed, as if you walk into a vintage Urban Outfitters. Warhol art style grip on the exposed brick walls, chandeliers, while hang up. A model wears a dress made from old records. Near locker rooms plush, upholstered chairs.
Sifting through the racks is still a bit dizzy. There are many articles about all styles (all arranged by color), Day, Evening Dresses, Wedding Dresses, rows of denim, handbags and other accessories, clothing for men, tips for kids, a portion of the shoe sole, and household goods. The loot is not as aggressive as Commissioner Buffalo Exchange resale or other chic boutiques, there are many styles of last season, and some elements looked very well worn, but I did spot some winners including a sweet pair of suede heels Aldo for $ 12 , 99, Rock & Republic jeans for $ 14.99 and a flashing blue Betsey Johnson mini dress for $ 7.99. Unfortunately I did not Gucci (or other luxury brands, for that matter) seen. Maybe next time The store receives daily deliveries of donated designer goods and department stores.
While thrifting professionals will tell you that it makes better options in OC, the Goodwill Special Boutique, is that it is good, good will. Every purchase helps people with disabilities find employment, to become independent, and themselves and their families. Stop and be fabulous twice!

Chanel Skains knelt on the gravel LaPlace trailer park where she lived with her husband, daughter and son-shaking hands with a St. John Parish deputy who was hit by a hail of bullets from a few seconds, stroking her hair and forehead.
"Are they talking about you?" asked the deputy in panic to the voice which they heard on the radio broadcast was a sheriff office, lying on the floor beside him. MP mumbled yes. "They're coming," Skains assured between bouts of crying and desperate cries for help - so hectic, in fact, she had not noticed his gunshot wound to the arm. "They're coming," she said. "I promise that they will come."
But help would arrive too late. Moments later, the member died, one of the two victims of a terrible ambush 16 August 2012. It's ambush killed members Jeremy and Brandon Triche and Nielsen left Deputies Michael Scott Boyington and Jason Triche with Boyington so severe that the required six or seven surgical wounds and fraud should have his spleen, gall bladder and one of his kidneys removed.
Four suspects will be tried for these crimes, including Terry Smith Skains husband and in-laws and son Derrick Brian Smith and Kyle Jökel. Terry and Derrick Smith are accused of a number of attempted first-degree murder. Brian Smith and Jökel are each charged with two counts of first-degree murder, the death of Jeremy Nielsen and fraud, if convicted, they threaten possible death penalty. Skains and Britney Keith, the girlfriend of Brian Smith, pleaded guilty to accessory. The charges against Teniecha Bright - the authorities said they had just go back home with the Smiths that day in August, and was originally booked to be a leader of the attempted first-degree murder - have been rejected in October last year.
On Friday morning in a tearful testimony of two hours in a preliminary examination hearing in Edgard Skains remembered the fear, panic and violence that staggered by the Scenic Riverview Mobile Home that August morning.
Shortly after 04.00 clock, 16 August Skains said she received a mysterious phone call from his son Derrick. Skains out of bed in a mobile home with her husband, Terry Smith split and went to the kitchen to make coffee. She knew that Terry and his son would soon come home from the Valero refinery in LaPlace, she worked the late shift. Then his phone rang.
"The cops chase us," Derrick Smith said suddenly suspended.
"I thought he was joking, because he loved to practice as" things said Skains. But because Skains knew that her husband, who was driving a Chevrolet truck, has no license, she began to fear that perhaps the group was in trouble they leave the trailer, as they pulled up Terry, Derrick and Brian Smith, Jökel and bright - .. Neighbors and colleagues, Terry Smith often commute to work - paid on the truck.
"I asked Terry what happened," said Skains. "He told me that Brian shot a guard."
Terry Smith was appointed Deputy Michael Scott Boyington, including Brian Smith reference allegedly shot with an assault rifle outside the park after Boyington Valero tried to pull over. The Smiths then raced Bayou Steel Road to the trailer park.
Terry Smith said Skains inside the trailer back. It forces. Meanwhile, he returned to his car. The others, including Keith Skains inside the trailer was assembled in the trailer. After Skains Derrick Smith left the trailer shortly after.
"Then Brian said," Daddy turning on me, "said Skains." He went up and down, talking, saying that we had to leave, we have to do, we can not stay here. "
Skains said in his statement that Brian Smith often presented a paranoid behavior: peering through the window, as if it were followed, suspicious of the loyalty of his family and friends.
"I said no, no, no, that's good," said Skains. Moments later, Terry Smith returned from his car with a gun over his shoulder. When Terry Smith went to get the gun on the bed, Skains took the gun and put it under a pile of clothes in the closet with her purse, which was in possession of a handgun. Terry Smith left the trailer, and a few moments later Skains heard voices outside.
"I thought he was a police officer because I could hear things on the radio," Skains said.
Then there was a knock at the door.
"I opened the door and there was a policeman standing he said." Hello, how are you, I want to talk for a second, "said Skains." I had my dog in my hand and said, "Let me . "I get the dog on a leash and walked out. When I did that, Terry was tied up on the picnic table with handcuffs. "
Skains testified that she noticed two other members are in the vicinity of the corner of his trailer, and the deputies knocked on the door and told him to back the trailer. He followed her inside. Brian Smith, his girlfriend Britney Keith Heller and disappeared into the bathroom. Jökel Skains was lying in bed, hiding under the covers. The officer quickly realized Jökel, and asked him to leave. Skains, Jökel and police then left the trailer. Skains sitting at the picnic table.
The next thing you knew Skains members fought Jökel ground.
13-year-old daughter Jaylin Rhodes Skains, who also testified Friday was taken in tow by Derrick Smith for the entire sequence, but said she distinctly heard Jökel shouted: "They will kill us all"
Skains said she saw one of the officers come Jökel, she told another officer pulled a gun and threatened to Terry Smith and Cheza from Skains dog that bark because the members were presented shoot.
"They put the gun in the face of Terry said he should shoot at him," Skains said. "He said," I just need to get the dog said ... "No, you can not shoot the dog He said:" I will shoot both "
"I try to bring the dog to the silence," Skains continued, "and the door [of the trailer] swings."
Skains she said then looked Brian in his peripheral vision, at the door of the trailer. Then she heard gunshots. Skains said she grabbed the dog and rolled under the picnic table.
"I heard a lot of shooting," she said, "and I cried," Stop! Please stop! "Everything was quiet then I heard Brian say .." There I was shot. "
Skains said she began crawling toward the campers under the picnic table where she had hidden herself as she turned her head around and saw Jökel walking along the side of the trailer. She said Jökel knelt down and took a pistol. Moments later shots and new Skains buried his head in his arms.
"I think Brian had thrown the weapon on the door," she said. [Jökel] picked up. I started to cry, and he would kill to stop, please stop. He began to pull down a policeman. "
Although Skains later said she did not know Jökel shoot a deputy, she confirmed that she saw him the gun barrel down on the floor. Later she noticed a deputy nearby. Deputy David Anthony Bullock, who was also present during the ambush, said in September that he saw a pair of legs shots into the body of Deputy Brandon Nielsen, who had been struck with the first rain balls.
"Then he went quiet," Skains said. She said she grabbed the dog and ran across the street, in the wake of Derrick Smith, where he and his 13-year-old daughter was in the shooting. Skains left the dog out, and ran to her trailer, where they noticed a deputy - probably Jeremy Cheating - blood on the floor. She knelt down beside him.
"He lay there, I asked if he was alright," said Skains. She reached out and stroked her hair and told her help was on the way.
Skains then discovered Terry Smith. Skains member said they would return, and she and Smith returned to their trailer where Brian Smith was on the ground, bleeding from a gunshot wound. She looked at him and said. "Are you crazy"
How Skains began walking towards the fallen deputy, she noted, Derrick Smith and her daughter approached her. She said she pleaded for them to stay away. Skains took the hand of his daughter and took the child to her aunt's trailer. Skains then ran back to the administrator.
Radio continued to crackle as assistant beside him, screamed Skains: "! Quick I'm losing it I have no weapons, hurry up!"
"So," said Skains between bursts of tears, "he stopped breathing."
Only then Skains they said that they had been killed, probably by a bullet Brian Smith.
"They grabbed me," Skains and said "has the ambulance and went to the hospital because I had been killed."
Skains was one of the nine witnesses to testify in court on Friday. Then, in the lobby of the courthouse, Skains cradled the head of his daughter on his lap.
Skains with Britney Keith, who said last month, will be sentenced at the end of the four remaining suspects are on trial, scheduled for mid-2014.

fashion technology - the new frontier
Live broadcast of the track? Style apps smartphone? So last season. On technology "fashion world" continues to move faster than Burberry holographic models on the catwalk. Welcome to the new frontier, where clothes Twitter, Facebook, Fashion, and the first virtual "digital model" world saleswomen revolutionized the way we shop.
Under a chic headquarters at the Sydney Opera House on Thursday Bespoke is a top business and fashion with a line, the influence of local and international experts, including MrPorter.com editor-in-chief Jeremy Langmead, founder and editor of The Business of Fashion Imran Amed and designer brands Sass & wait to discuss Zimmermann and J Crew, the global trends, innovation and creative collaboration.
The technology is also high on the agenda with Coco Rocha, 24, the top Canadian model - she fronted campaigns for Chanel, Versace and Dior on the cover of Vogue and Harper's Bazaar - turned cyber-space phenomenon. Hailed as "the fashion and technology in the flesh," Rocha something like a juggernaut of social media has gain a huge eight million followers through their website, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Google+ (it was first model million a followers to earn on this platform) and its addictive blog "OHSO Coco" which streams thousands of photos and video clips of his life and modeling career.
"It's really the first digital model in the world and has control of his career in a way perhaps no model had before," says international fashion editor of the Australian Financial Review Marion Hume, curator and Bespoke host. Rocha, who is a committed philanthropist and advocate against eating disorders in the fashion industry, will discuss "pioneering digital innovation."
Further evidence of the power of social media when it comes to style, just look at the first dress in the Twitter world. Literally the talk of the town on a red carpet launch of a new 4G mobile network in London last year, the former Pussy Cat Doll singer Nicole Scherzinger decked out in a black dress with 2,000 LED lights that s' is displayed in real-time from Twitter feeds his fans. The dress - which was built from eight yards of silk chiffon and French silk with more than 500 Swarovski crystals loaded, was made by the fashion-tech cute farm circuits - is rechargeable via USB.
Another pioneer in this rock-solid marriage between fashion and technology is a British brand Burberry has hoarded among their many multi-media wonder 14 million
Facebook, Twitter and 1.3 million fans on Instagram 564,000. One of the first to stream their shows, last season alive, they have not create a net worth "tweet walk" through the publication of pictures of models backstage at Twitter before they go the route (we wonder what Anna Wintour would think ?). Couple that with I-pad toting providers (designer Christopher Bailey cites Apple as the brand, it is inspired) and the use of RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) devices in the memory trigger. Simply run her purse on the RFID platform and voila, you will see a video on Craftsman Create their high-end accessories. Talk to bring a new meaning to try before.
"Consumers are looking for more information about the products when they are in the store," says Maureen Mullen, director of research and advisory firm for the L2, a global think tank for digital innovation. Not that the revolution did not happen before we even ventured inside. "Today we have a digitally active consumer who always has a camera in his hand and uses the Facebook mirror technology, interactive, and various other forms of social media to ask for advice, and a better shopping experience," says Stephen Kulmar Director of Retail Oasis is a digital experts dedicated to fashion the ever-changing face of retail.
Which, since the explosion of technological advances on us is the same thing - the power of the consumer. "Social media has made communication between brands and customers opened so that the consumer valuable feedback. Clever companies benefit from the use of this staggering amount of power," says Hume, quoted mrporter.com (Group share of net-a-porter) and Saturday Surf New York (both of which have to be measured on the podium) "to engage digitally with their customers." as excellent examples of this
And let's face it, those who are not down with the "augmented reality" (including synthetic images to real situations, aka these holographic models strutting with real opening of Burberry in Beijing), "Face Detection" (The Marks and Spencer in the UK can use the visualization technology of the U.S. Army developed for buyers to see how a pair of jeans will look before you buy) and "Omni Mirrors" (mirror Interactive takes a shot in-store and then uploads to social media to bettors can from their friends To search) and today's tech-savvy consumers can easily "showroom" from there. For those who do not know (where have you been?) "Showrooming" means you use your mobile to see if this fabulous dress aligning the shell can be snapped cheaper. Because the Cyber-verse can be anywhere ... along these holograms.

But only a year ago, many doubted whether a social media sensation turned Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover girl had the chops to decipher the code of Anna Wintour. After all, Upton has not even Victoria's Secret Fashion Show was considered at the time. "We never use" its a show, the casting director Sophia Neophitou the New York Times said in February 2012. "It's like a woman with blond hair footballers and this kind of face that anyone with enough money can go out and buy," said Neophitou.
A little more than a year later, Upton has the last word, and shows some serious and lasting performance. After arriving on our radar in 2011 after dancing on the tape of a friend caught Cali Swag District "Teach Me How To Dougie" (video eventually won 2 million views) Upton continued to make cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue 2012 a barely-there bikini. His star power rapidly decreased, and the end of the sixth Upton was most wanted man on Google in the U.S. for the year 2012, thanks not only told Sports Illustrated issue, but also a few good timed-viral YouTube videos including one where she dances the Cat Dad for photographer Terry Richardson (16 million views) in another bikini super-thin. 'Fashion Star' Winner Hunter Bell gives us the scoop behind-the-scenes
Fashion Star season two winner Hunter Bell, the designer of ready-to-wear Hunter Dixon, a native of South Carolina, but its sensitivity (and the Express mode, as they answered our questions no taboos!) Is certainly 100 percent in New York. We caught up with the University of Alabama graduate lecture on his experiences at the NBC fashion reality, its brand, and where she hopes to go from here.
StyleBistro: Congratulations on your victory Fashion Star! How did you feel when they called your name as the winner of this year?
Hunter Bell: It was a phenomenal experience. I kept telling myself to race with endurance and actually crossed the finish line seriously. It is six weeks, seven days a week, and it's endurance. You are up early in the morning and work until late at night. You have less than two days to complete a challenge before you are on another. They are constantly juggling and struggling emotions. You are dealing with a lot. So when she was called my name, it was as if I had crossed a finish line was. I did it. I ran the race.
StyleBistro: As a designer, a commercial success, your clothes in more than 200 boutiques around the world and celebrities including Rose Byrne, Sophia Bush and Emma Roberts are already stored fans, why do you want to Fashion Star?
Hunter Bell: We had success, and I was in Saks, I had my name on the wall of the Saks and all the press and all the celebrities. We had reached a point where we were not properly activated, and the company simply did not work. We all sales, we simply do not have the capital to support sales. He created a lot of problems for me in 2012, at which point I was exhausted and I started to think if this company does not want to be in this world, I gave it a good swirl, but don 'capital is not easy there is, then we may need to close the deal. I wondered what to do when the show contacted me. I was really in a state of vulnerability and confusion, and she said to me: "Here is a great opportunity for you There could not be a reasonable time..
StyleBistro: What happened to your business because you were in the show?
Hunter Bell: Certainly recognition. Certainly people who have known the brand, are now able to connect with the brand on a deeper level. I am very serious about the show, I was not on the show to become famous or to drama. I was really on the show to work hard, to tell my story, and really challenge me. It was an opportunity to really grow. I think that resonates with people. And I think people like the clothes because they are not hard to understand. There are certainly things that are portable. I think the story has resonance with people.
StyleBistro: What is the process of recording how? Six weeks!
Hunter Bell: You mean nothing to you! You show up and you arrive. There is no scenario, no, "This is what we do tomorrow., If you knew what you do tomorrow, your reaction would not be true. I'm a planner in my business and my life and that any form of calendar window to take? There is a unique experience.
StyleBistro: Is that all participants to live together?
Hunter Bell: We stayed in a hotel, and we all have our own hotel room. The cool thing is that we., The tools and resources that we needed Before we arrived, they contacted us and asked what kind of pens and what kind of sketchbook we wanted. They are not trying to shoot you, gave us all the tools and resources to enable us to be successful.
StyleBistro: How do you make your work from other candidates?
Hunter Bell: This is how to globally. You have to keep that in mind and sometimes competitors fought with him. I have two sisters and four cousins, and we are all shaped differently and have different aesthetics. My younger sister is 26 years old and bohemian. My older sister is a working mother. And that's just to understand that there are different shapes and sizes, the price level of the difference. It is certainly a time to be creative, and it is certainly a time to pull back and say: This is the mass appeal to the masses.
StyleBistro: you Nanette Lepore and Rebecca Taylor interned and then worked for Jones Apparel Group and Vineyard Vines. As all of these iconic American brands influence your work today?
Hunter Bell: Well, they are all so different. When I arrived in New York a decade ago, I was basically wearing a bright yellow umbrella and wearing a dress. Well, I wear black from head to foot all day. Nanette Lepore has certainly taught me girly, feminine world, which I loved. During my second internship at Rebecca Taylor, I was sitting in a matching 1 day and the sun went down and I had tears in my eyes. This was the moment when I knew I wanted to have a clothing line in New York. Jones Apparel Group is a great company. Work he taught me a lot about communication in China and abroad, how. Using plants such as mass production to communicate Vineyard Vines has taught me the technical design.
StyleBistro: What advice would you a designer who thinks about the competition, in a kind of reality show?
Hunter Bell: You know, I do not regret it, but my personality because I'm a serious person, but I'm so much fun I'm not as serious as I am in the show. I would balance the two. Definitely head down and come to the show to work hard and very focused, but do not neglect to have fun and have moments. It's a bit like when you get married and people ask what you do not forget on your wedding day, take a step back and look. Make sure you will enjoy it also because it is a unique opportunity in life.
This is my passion. I do not want to be rich and famous. I just want to create jobs and the people who are dedicated to me now.

Gucci loses trademark case against Devine
Gucci has lost his last fight in a battle against presumption brand in Italy.
Guess said the Milan court rejected all the allegations of Gucci and the elimination of some lozenges made Gucci G logo and flora pattern brands. He also rejected the rights of the Gucci logo squared G.
According to the figure, the court agreed with most of his main arguments, said the diamond pattern and floral motifs are common in the world of fashion.
In particular, he said presumption Quattro G pattern popular logo (with a single G in the corner of the diamond) has "nothing to do" with interlocking double G pattern Gucci, one of the most important demands made by Gucci.
In response, PPR-owned Gucci it "strongly disagrees" with the decision, "especially because in the opinion of Gucci, such a decision does not take into account the fact guess the use of similar marks which by Gucci - famous, known and appreciated in the world - is an illegal and parasitic "free-riding effect on brands Gucci and in general on the brand image.
Gucci is set to make the decision, which he says is potentially dangerous for the protection of the "Made in Italy" to appeal.
The retailer filed a similar lawsuit against rates in New York, where he won U.S. $ 4.66m damages and a permanent injunction against the use of four contested Guess three models.
Skirting the Issue denim
By Teri Agins
Q: I recently bought a pencil skirt and jeans whenever I want to wear it, I change my mind in the end. Is denim skirts are still in fashion? I can still see the different types of denim skirts are sold in stores, but almost never seen anyone over 45 to carry!
-M.M., Naples, Florida
A: Denim is timeless and ageless. It is not out of fashion. Remember, denim is a cotton fabric that happens to be ideal for a pencil skirt because it is strong and holds its shape. To go further, if necessary, and so that it fits perfectly in adjusting the waist and hips. You should just be able to a shirt without seeing climb back or pull on the hips.
Sometimes I have two denim skirts that I treat like jeans dressed like diving anything goes. I have a mid-calf pencil skirt in stretch denim with zipper and a back slit. The other is a circle skirt, a few inches below my knee. They look great with a Cropped black leather tank top, a white coat, tops and even a tank stretch top, worn with boots, shoes or sandals knit strong.
Here is an unexpected party cocktail look is ready: a denim pencil skirt with sequin top and an armful of crystal bracelets.
You do not see many women in denim skirts to measure because it is not a popular fashion trend are. This makes denim skirts worry so cool and unique-not even come and go.
I love wearing denim skirts, overalls and coveralls. These elements sharp and contemporary-plus, they help you stand out in the crowd. Your personal style should always be your strong signature style.
Why not take a vow to wear your denim skirt this week? I think it is not a mini, and it's not too tight or faded Super. These variations could not flattering on a mature woman, whatever its form.
