Style for a price: Transmogrifying pandaren fashion
Leveling through an expansion usually means a jaunt into the worst that fashion has to offer. Mixed and matched greens and dungeon blues, pieces of sets and gear
that just don't go together at all. With Mists of Pandaria, we finally have the opportunity to avoid the leveling clown suit altogether, thanks to the
transmogrification feature introduced in Cataclysm. For the first time, we're in control of our own destiny as we level ... or at the very least our own fashion
sense.
While you could easily just transmogrify your gear to any of your favorite sets, let's face it -- you're in a strange new land, one full of mystery and untold
adventure. And it's also full of some of the nicest fashions a diehard transmogrification fan could ask for, too! In a twist of utter convenience, Blizzard has
placed a vendor in Dawn's Blossom over in the Jade Forest who will sell players that don't have the best of gear some green sets for leveling purposes.
But they aren't just for leveling, they're actually pretty nice looking examples of pandaren fashion. And for a small chunk of change, they can be in your bags
and ready for transmogrification, too.
Fashionable Faded Forest
To get your hands on some new gear, simply head to Dawn's Blossom in the Jade Forest. You'll be sent there naturally as you're leveling, anyway. Keep your eyes
peeled for Singegruff, the Adventuring Supply vendor. He may not be the best dressed pandaren in the world, but he's got some amazing outfits you can purchase.
Dawn's Blossom is a neutral town, so both Alliance and Horde can check out Singegruff's wares and pick up some new pieces.
Faded Forest Cloth
Singegruff sells two different cloth sets, one Satin, and one Silk. However, both sets are visually identical. Since you aren't actually going to wear these
items, you're just using them for transmogrification, you can simply ignore the stats. Just go with whichever option is cheapest, which is what we've done here.

Also, she apologized.
Then the judge replied.
"How does that, Mrs. Ralph, with the nature of your purchases?" Scriven asked. "You do not buy food and diapers, you were buying luxury goods such as Gucci bags and guns and roses 42-inch flat-screen TV. How does this have to do to restore your son?"
Ralph admitted that she used the taxpayers' money to buy a fraudulent 2010 Buick LaCrosse. When investigators searched his home 2nd June 2011, they found marijuana, which triggered the legal expenses of the state.
They confiscated Gucci sunglasses, luggage, Gucci gift cards, a second TV, four computers, a Sony video camera, a handbag and a pink Betsey Johnson Kahr Arms pistol.
"The defendant was living the high life on other people's hard-earned money," Assistant U.S. Attorney Sara C. Sweeney.

The judge ruled that Scriven was woman with a history of law-abiding a "miscarriage of justice".
Ralph has been almost six years faced in prison, but prosecutors agreed to a lesser sentence because she has accepted responsibility. It helped that she had no criminal record. (The Last of marijuana is ongoing.) And in the guise of help they agreed on the continuation of the other.
The expression is similar to Patricia Shaw, two years in January to $ 126,000 in fraudulent claims.

Beenders, who created the look for Christian Siriano's spring/summer 2013 fashion show.
Aveda explains how to get the look: flip head over, finger-comb hair into a ponytail at the top of the head and pull straight up, twist hair into a loose bun,
and secure with an elastic. Finally, pin hair at the base of the bun and, as Aveda suggests, finish the look with Air Control Hair Spray.
2. Fishtail Braids at Pamela Gonzales
© Nolcha Fashion Week
Braids took many forms at fashion week, from braided headbands at Emerson to underbraids at Tracy Reese, but the easiest--and most wearable--style to do at home
is the messy fishtail braid at Pamela Gonzales.
© Nolcha Fashion Week
The voluminous ocean-inspired braids, seen at Nolcha Fashion Week, were created by Rusk. Stylists used Rusk Designer Collection Blofoam ($14 SRP) to create
texture--a la Daryl Hannah in Splash. Hair was then curled and back combed (read: teased, 80s-style) to create structure, and then loosely braided.
3. Polished Hair at Richard Smith
© Nolcha Fashion Week
To compliment Richard Smith's chic bespoke suits, hairstyles by Rusk were equally as polished. The Don Draper-eque 'dos to come down the runway at Smith's
spring/summer 2013 Nolcha Fashion Week show were anything but sloppy.
Chanel fined £ 161,000 for breach

In 2009, the World Tricot Chanel tried to sue for £ 3.6 million: € 1.3 million for the wrongful termination of the business relationship, and £ 2.3 million for the alleged violation of a white crochet. Chanel has decided all charges and the Commercial Court in their favor ordering World Tricot Chanel pay £ 161,000 euros for "public denigration" denied.
However, the court ruled Friday to annul that decision and instead pay Chanel World Tricot ordered.
"This is the first time we have faced this kind of situation, but we work with about 400 suppliers. This case is very specific in any way reflect the quality of our relationships with our suppliers," Bruno Pavlovsky, president of Chanel told WWD .
Chanel said that they decide "soon" whether to appeal the decision before the French Court of Cassation.

luxury brands mass from Argentina
A number of retailers of luxury goods leave Argentina in response to trade barriers, exchange controls and inflation.
American designer Ralph Lauren was the most recent outing when he announced last month that it close to three of its branches in Buenos Aires, including the flagship in the upscale Recoleta, drastic measures on imports almost all would not let him lie on the shelves.
Ermenegildo Zegna, Escada, Calvin Klein Underwear and had already closed or greatly reduced operations in response to the growing challenges of doing business in the country. Local media said the French jeweler Cartier intends next month.
President Cristina Fernández end of last year to protect tightened controls on imports to a trade surplus drops. His government has also improved access to foreign exchange to the ranks of the Argentine peso against with regard to their dollars, prevent their savings from one of the highest inflation in the world to protect limited.
PLUS: 7 new best cities in the world for start-ups
Tourism, which has exploded in the last decade has slowed since Argentina was expensive and limited Europeans traveling through tougher economic climate at home.
Movements emphasize the increasing difficulties of foreign companies in Argentina, where the government has resorted to protectionism to address challenges such as rising domestic prices faced, reduced confidence in the currency and a trade surplus of erosion.
"This is a complicated scenario," says economist Miguel Kiguel, Executive and Secretary EconViews former Argentine Finance. "Companies can not the products that they need in order to function normally. Moreover, reduced tourism, while the country has become more expensive."
To the city of Buenos Aires, sometimes called the "Paris of Latin America" losing blue chip international brands is a blow to the international reputation of the city.
"These stores are so elegant and glamorous," said Cristina Shopper Beltrame, below Alvear Avenue, the most Parisian streets in the Argentine neighborhood of Recoleta, this past weekend. "It's sad to see them go."
PLUS: 3 Strategies to create a scary economy dominate
Ralph Lauren said in a statement that the closure was only temporary, but does not specify whether and when they want to open their shops.
Argentina won last year, according to central bank control the foreign exchange reserves fell by more than 10% as Argentines lined up outside the offices of exchange buying dollars. The country is not in a position to international debt markets since its default $ 95000000000 in 2001, requires reserves to repay debt.
The government has banned all international companies, but to make profits abroad in order to reduce the demand for international currency. Argentines are also prevented from buying foreign currency, so that many of their foreign travel plans in advance of the summer season, give up.
Exchange controls and a growing sense of unease, as the economy slows and inflation continue to erode the purchasing power, cut deeply into the popularity of President Fernandez. Local management and research firm said Fit 72% of Argentines now how the government manages the economy decline.
In response to financial control, perceived by many as a limitation of their freedom, hundreds of thousands of Argentines did in the streets last week beat pots and chanted against rising prices and increasing crime in the biggest challenge to President Fernandez in more than four years.
PLUS: the Mexico media monopoly against the people
While the president tried to minimize the significance of the event, local analysts see as a turning point in his presidency.
"The middle class, shown last week, is an important segment in the political social composition," says political analyst Rosendo Fraga. "And this event shows that voters are now distancing themselves from the government."
Argentina's economy is still in the process of expansion of 2.2% this year, according to the World Bank, nearly 9% in 2011.
Some companies, such as the French company Lacoste and Research in Motion (RIMM), maker of the BlackBerry smartphones have to establish local factories and adjusted to fit some of their products in the country.
But for the vast majority of the international brands, the size of the Argentine market is not justify such an approach, especially as the wages of native workers are the highest in the region.
One of the most controversial government imposed last year was to require companies that import products with exports to offset their own, whereupon the unusual partnerships as luxury carmakers., A team with a local wine merchant exporters or luxury brand partnership with a wool exporter
The automakers Fiat and Renault this year had both the production slow down due to lack of imported parts.
Inspections leave little choice for many international companies - a choice of the Fernandez administration would be likely to happen, it needs to know. So far, however, neither the departure of global brands, or the dissatisfaction of the Argentine people is very serious.

Colin’s Column | Looking Back at London
LONDON, United Kingdom — Are we talking about London Fashion Week or a festival of childish self-indulgence? For me, fashion design is about cut, shape, body
and proportion, as it always has been. But sadly, many of the recent London shows featured banal shapes hidden under a riot of digitally created patterns,
sometimes in the crudest of colours. Just imagine if there was an embargo on the use of colour and pattern and designers had to show clothes in toile. We would
then see plainly just how bereft of technical skills some of the most lauded of London designers actually are.
The culprits are not only the young ones, but also experienced designers with long track records. Jasper Conran and John Rocha, for example, should be ashamed.
Although I do have some sympathy for them, as they must surely look at the kind of fashion that’s being hysterically praised in the press and think, ‘Oh, well,
what’s the point of having standards if nobody knows what they are any more?’
But enough preaching. Here’s what I liked most at the London shows.
My greatest pleasure from the week was seeing Christopher Kane come out blazing with confidence and present a collection that was perfectly judged, well cut and
completely controlled. I thought it was very beautiful and sophisticated — even witty. Indeed, the collection proved that Kane lives up to the hype and can
rightfully call himself a true force in London fashion.
Burberry’s Christopher Bailey is well up there at the top of the mountain and like a skilled climber, this season, he stood at the pinnacle and firmly planted
the brand’s flag as an international beacon for London fashion (the only one, currently) with a collection that was pitch perfect. The iridescent colours were
beautifully subtle and the trench has never looked so glamorous.
Which leaves Erdem, the only other designer worthy of serious comment this season. In the past, I worried that he was settling into a cosy routine of beautiful
fabrics and accommodating shapes. But this season, not a bit of it! His delicacy and sensitive assurance are still there, but with this show he advanced his
aesthetic as smoothly as a Maserati slips from one gear to the next. This man is a true designer. He doesn’t swing from one ostensibly new idea to another each
season, because he is mature enough to know who he is. His colours — strong but never crude — and his embroidery work distinguish him from the crowd.
For the rest, silence is the kindest thing, although I loved the prints at Antoni & Alison, who are celebrating the 25th anniversary of the label Antoni
Burakowski and Alison Roberts launched with £200 in 1987 and still enjoy a loyal following despite being largely ignored by the press. I also liked “Pomp and
Pleasure,” Anya Hindmarch’s witty presentation — orchestrated by Michael Howells with a long sideways look at Hogarth’s London — which had the audience, who
already love her bags, roaring with laughter, which is no small feat on the final day of a tiring fashion week. Also appealing were the crispness of Rag & Bone
in their brief, but totally modern guerrilla warfare of a show and the masterly tailoring and embroidery of Fyodor Golan.
Scott Stevenson Stages Sidewalk Runway Show During Fashion Week
We can always count on the scene outside the Marc Jacobs show to be a little crazy, but this season the New York Armory was even more of a spectacle than usual,
thanks to Scott Stevenson and his impromptu outdoor fashion show. The 24-year-old designer literally hit the streets this month, staging a renegade runway on the
sidewalk that took place just as guests were filing out of Marc Jacobs. Inspired by the heat of summer and DIY to the core, Scott's Spring 2013 collection
featured sheer blouses, cropped jackets, and conceptual cutout details- what he dubs as a new kind of "summer layering." The concept of a guerilla-style fashion
presentation is nothing new, and we really feel that nobody did it better than X-Girl in 1994. In fact, it was Scott's friend Todd Oldham who originally made the
comparison. But despite stunts like sewing models into their outfits on the subway ride uptown and planting the presentation directly on the sidewalk, Scott told
us his one-man show arose organically out of the need to make a statement without many resources. "It came about from the necessity to create and not having any
money to do it."
Fashion's a fast-changing game- there's no "right" way to do it, and Scott's total proof of this. Designer style is already becoming more accessible with shows
available online, but as Scott says himself, "there has to be another way for people to appreciate it." Next stop, the street!

London Fashion Week SS13: highlights from all five days!
So we officially say goodbye to another season of London Fashion Week and we are left with mixed feelings. We are part of sprouting in the thoughts of leaving Somerset House and the surrounding areas fashionable for another season, while the rest of us would be comfortable to kick off the wake and fall in homes believers and more. Somerset House cobbles, it is impossible to run the show - we miss you!
We will not forget the Spring / Summer 2013 season at London Fashion Week once ... Here are our thoughts on the whole experience:
Day 1 was our favorite because we are trying to not just jump and Somerset House rushing to the Vauxhall Fashion Scout to check out the talents of upcoming designers as well, but we have also managed behind the scenes for some shows. We were courtesy collections elegant, easy to carry and glamorous Sass and Bide, Bora Aksu and Corrie Nielsen, and dramatic looks thanks to Fyodor Golan presented Carlotta Actis Barone and. We loved the ballet Carlotta - we could petition for more shows have dancing ... What do you say?
Day 2 was a bit of a mix, we have some talents will always be seen with the big guns. The forties were back. With Tahir Sultan, this is definitely a trend that we are more than happy to get on board with Glitter and fairy tale inspired eyes seem an important recurring trends for Spring / Summer 2013 season, which is exactly what Jeffrey Michael's "Water" collection affirmed. Hooray for fantasy! And of course, House of Holland was as spectacular as ever - casual, bright, bold, and to boot with a lot of attitude. Henry we not otherwise!
Day 3 was devoted especially drooling over the Temperley London collection, which included pieces for elegant blend modern princess. The chain stores, please start here when looking for a new season of inspiration. A big thank you!
Day 4, we need a little pick-me-up we started to feel the tension LFW (there's only so much running / snake in the heels we can take), but we saw the collections we finally sat up. It was a bit of a "go big or go home" kind of day when everything was clear, strong and in-your-face ... Burberry, Antonio Berardi and Osman shows all brought their own dramas of the process. Osman collection would not be everyone's cup of tea, but we maintain our view that it will be the stars of the collection again, if they feel wallflower one moment and want me out. We believe that Rihanna is comfortable in the rooms!
Day 5 is the perfect way for another week was London Fashion stop success. No other show no longer get out of bed at 7:00 on the fifth day other. As British brand Mulberry and should again be proud of what they are presented on the podium this season We can not wait to see Olivia Palermo and Alexa Chung rocking some new ideas. Start a lottery for the first lady of rock collection ...

My Fashion Week Nightmare… with Eva Chen
Anyone who works in the industry has had ‘em: A fashion week related nightmare. We asked designers, editors and stylists to share
theirs with us, and then we asked our friend (and super talented artist) Mara Sprafkin illustrate them. Don’t be scared…
Yesterday, former Fashionista editor and current LuckyMag.com executive editor Lauren Sherman shared her horror story of falling into
the Gap (and giving birth there!). Today, Eva Chen shares with us a dream about a leopard print boat – nothing nightmarish about this
one!
I’d like to thank Roald Dahl’s BFG for this golden phizzwizard:
I’m in Sardinia on a Dolce and Gabbana leopard print boat. Yes, a leopard print boat. We’re having a feast of sorts: caprese salad,
pappardelle, the works. After our lunch, we lounge on the (yes, leopard print) deck before taking a dip in the sparkling blue waters. I
’m wearing a polka-dotted high-waisted bathing costume! Laughter all around and, oh, if only this dream could be a reality. Sigh!

Five Things to Know About New York Fashion Week
It seems like only yesterday we were watching Gisele Bündchen walk the runway for Alexander Wang, previewing Whitney Port‘s debut
fashion show and dissecting the meaning behind Emmy Rossum’s backward dress. But here we are again, about to toast the next exciting
round of New York Fashion Week.
Before the fashion fun begins on Wednesday, however, we thought we’d give you a little insider info on the big event:
So … what is Fashion Week? Fashion Week is a week (actually about nine days) in which we see what’s hot for the coming season; in
this case, spring of 2013. Big and budding designers descend on the Big Apple, showing their latest looks for audiences that include
buyers (shopping for their stores), stylists (shopping for clients), journalists (shopping for stories) and some lucky fashion fans.
Many shows are held at the heart of it all — the “tents” (more like a really nice, temporary set of auditoriums) at Lincoln Center
on Manhattan’s Upper West Side — but some designers pick alternative venues like lofts, event spaces or unique spots like the New
York Public Library.
Though so much planning goes into every show — invites, seating charts, getting celebs settled in the front row, fending off reporters
and photographers for said celebs, casting models, hair, makeup and, you know, designing — most shows last for only about 10 minutes.
Then it’s lights up, and everyone’s off to the next show or back to work.
Fashions outside the tents counts, too. In recent years, people attending shows — and people who don’t have invites but hang around
Fashion Week venues in hope of slipping in to see a show — have been dressing even better (and often crazier) than before. The reason?
They want to be noticed for their style.
Street style blogs go nuts during Fashion Week, posting the chicest, and yes, sometimes the craziest, civilian looks of the day. If a
fashionista is really lucky, she might end up being snapped by The New York Times‘s beloved photog Bill Cunningham.
Why do celebrities go to shows? It depends. Some go to shop for dresses — the Emmys are just weeks away — some for fun and some as
favors to designer friends. Reportedly, there can be perks — a paycheck here, some free clothes there — and some front-row photos and
solid interviews can really raise an up-and-coming starlet’s profile. But this season, what’s probably more interesting is how many
…
Celebrities will be showing lines at the tents. We’ve already told you about Katie Holmes; along with her stylist, Jeanne Yang, she’
ll be presenting her Holmes & Yang collection at Fashion Week for the first time ever. There will be veterans like Victoria Beckham and
Rachel Zoe, both showing namesake lines, and Avril Lavigne and Whitney Port, each making second appearances. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen
will pull double duty, presenting Elizabeth & James one day and The Row another.
How can I see a show? If you’re not planning to come to New York and bum an unused invite off an editor, you can join in the fun
online. We’ll be Tweeting from the tents (check back later this week for a list of all the accounts you should be following once the
shows begin), sharing fun photos, surveying the front row and giving commentary on our favorite looks, too.
You can also watch lots of major shows online; YouTube is again presenting its “Live From the Runway” series, offering livestreams
from the catwalks of Rebecca Minkoff, Monique Lhuillier, Nicole Miller, Diane von Furstenberg and many, many more. They’re worth
checking out, and trust us, you’ll have the best seat in the house!

From Fashion to Interiors: Miu Miu's Bold Palette for Fall
I'm surely not the only one currently enjoying the annual feast that is the "September Issue". The latest Vogue is filled to the brim with lovely fashion ideas, from quirky to sublime, with ads that work hard to rival the editorial pages. One of the series of ads that immediately caught my eye is from Miu Miu...
The Fall/Winter 2012 look from Miu Miu is boldly and clearly retro rock and roll - a punky androgynous mashup of glam rock and menswear - and therefore, not for everyone. But, whether or not you'd personally rock the wildly patterned trousers, there is inspiration to be found. The palette of color and pattern is bold, warm, bright, vibrant, yet ultimately, very adaptable to "home".
These are colors that haven't been used frequently in interiors in recent years and their time might be coming around again - golds, browns, a family of reddish orange rusts with a mix of jewel tones of strong green, purple, red and blue. The patterns are strong and recognizable - wide stripes, checkerboards, geometrics, and small menswear houndstooth-y checks. The materials have shine - velvets, shimmery silks and satins and high gloss or metallic leathers.
While a room fully decked out in the upholstery equivalent of the Miu Miu look would be very theatrical, if you picture adding just a piece or two that would fit into this mold, say a glossy emerald green leather chair or an overstuffed orange-y rust velvet sofa, with a few silky, necktie fabric pillows and/or a metallic lamp (or two), it would be an instant, slightly offbeat and unexpected, on-trend style refresh.

“I LOATHE nostalgia,” Diana Vreeland declared at the beginning of her 1984 memoir “D.V.” She meant nothing of the sort, as
Christopher Lehmann-Haupt noted in his review in The Times, calling the book a “deceptively frothy meringue of a monologue.” Vreeland
was an unconventional editor and an unconventional mother (though something of a traditional mate), and her slant on life was from an
angle informed by beauty. She had, quite simply, an amazing eye. This was a very specialized story she was bound to tell.
When I saw a screening of “Diana Vreeland: The Eye Has to Travel,” an entertaining new documentary that will have its premiere next
Saturday during Fashion Week (it opens in limited release on Sept. 21 in New York and Los Angeles, and soon after in other cities), I
was struck by how much Vreeland’s voice pervades the film. Of course you see her pages from Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue, which she took
in 1963 and transformed into a beacon of pop culture. The film’s producer and co-director, Lisa Immordino Vreeland, who is married to
Vreeland’s grandson, Alexander, also creates a vibrant backdrop for her subject’s early years in Paris, London and New York.
But it’s the surprise and crisp authority of Vreeland’s voice, as narrator, that lures the viewer. Ms. Immordino unearthed television
clips and had access to hours of taped conversations that Vreeland made with George Plimpton, who helped her with “D.V.” Drawing on
material in those tapes, an actress, Annette Miller, interpreted Vreeland’s voice for the narrated bits. It’s incredibly convincing.
“The Eye Has to Travel” follows a spate of fashion documentaries, including “The September Issue,” “Ultrasuede: In Search of
Halston” and “Valentino: The Last Emperor,” which may have been responsible for putting filmmakers in a nostalgic mood. Two other
new documentaries come out during Fashion Week: “Versailles 73,” by a first-time filmmaker, Deborah Riley Draper, and “Scatter My
Ashes at Bergdorf’s,” by Matthew Miele. I haven’t seen Mr. Miele’s 86-minute film, which will feature Candice Bergen and Joan
Rivers, as well as the usual fashion suspects, but I watched the Versailles film the other night and was impressed by its thoroughness.
It recounts the 1973 fashion show in Paris with five French stars and five Americans, and the battle that ensued. Ms. Draper’s
inexperience shows: there are too many talking-head moments, the lighting could be better, and her storytelling is too linear. Still,
the film is worth seeing. (Tiffany is featuring the film for Fashion’s Night Out, at the Paris Theatre. It will then be shown at the
IFC Center in New York for a week, beginning Sept. 7.)
Ms. Draper, an advertising executive in Atlanta, tracked down rare footage (at Vanderbilt University) and financed production herself.
She got the idea, she said, after seeing an ABC News spot in 2011 about a lunch at the Metropolitan Museum of Art that brought together
the Versailles participants. “I’m a bit of a fashionista, and I had never heard of the event or the story,” she said. Ms. Draper is
talking to two distributors. If that doesn’t work, she said, she’ll take the film around the country herself.

My Fashion Week Nightmare… with Simon Doonan
Anyone who works in the industry has had ‘em: A fashion week related nightmare. We asked designers, editors and stylists to share
theirs with us, and then we asked our friend (and super talented artist) Mara Sprafkin illustrate them. Don’t be scared…
To kick off the series, Erin Fetherston told us about her nightmare involving a stolen collection and a Smurf-colored jacket. Next up,
the incomparable Simon Doonan, Barneys’ Creative Ambassador-at-Large, has nightmares about watching his dog dry-hump a model on the
runway–while he looks on from standing!
I arrive at the Tents and nobody says hello and nobody tries to take my picture. What AM I? Chopped liver? I am carrying my dog
Liberace. I brought him along to make a great photo op. Nobody seems to agree with me. We move through the crowd and nobody ambushes me
about their new web site and nobody stuffs a resume in my hand and begs for a job. Nobody even makes eye contact. Gradually I realize
how much I always enjoyed being “bothered” by young hopefuls whenever I arrived at the shows. I look for my seat.
EEK! I am in “standing”…which means I am staring at the back of somebody’s legs. (I’m short.) Suddenly I realize that Liberace has
escaped. The show begins. I peak through my neighbors legs Liberace bum rushes the first model and begins humping her leg…I wake up
screaming.

Fall Fashion 101: Meet the New Stores on Robson Street
September means fall fashion. Vogue debuts its door stop fall fashion guide. Vancouver celebrates its first Fashion’s Night Out, Sept.
6, when retailers offer deep discounts for one glamourous night. Main St. hosts the autumn local designer show case Spend on Trend,
Sept. 14-16. But more on those events later.
In this post, I’ll cover the latest store openings in Vancouver’s main shopping corridor: Robson Street. If you’re shopping in
Vancouver, Robson Street is the favourite retail and strolling thoroughfare. It’s the second-most-expensive retail street in Canada
after Toronto’s Bloor Street. Although some speculated that Vancouver’s retail corridor would shift, Robson Street has rallied with
some exciting updates.
Even if you don’t need a first day of school outfit, there’s an irresistible urge to banish cut-offs and browse the richly-hued, new
season window displays.
Here’s where to look.
As Vancouver prepares to celebrate its first Fashion’s Night Out, a sure sign of growing style scene, some big name retailers have
opened doors on the Robson strip.
J.Crew, the prom queen/king of American classy, opened doors in late April at 1088 Robson Street. J.Crew does office appropriate and
casual wear for guys and gals. According to this article, J.Crew aims to open as many as 25 stores across the country.
Camper, the Spanish shoe mega brand that proved orthopedic comfort can be stylish, opened this August at 1101 Robson. CB2 (furniture,
not fashion) opened spacious digs at 1277 Robson this February, attracting a crowd with their mod furnishings.
Forever 21, where flick young folks enter and emerge hours later, clutching bulging yellow bags of inexpensive fashion, is set to open
this September. If you feel like you’ve seen the “coming soon” sign up for ages, you’re right. They originally said April.
When HMV (the 35,000-square-foot, two level store at Robson and Burrard) closed, they left a gaping hole. But good news: The Vancouver
Sun reports that Victoria’s Secret will set up a flagship store in the former HMV. “After nearly a year of negotiations, the company
will take possession in September, and is expected to open for business in May 2013.”
Nearby, the downtown Sears (701 Granville St.) is closing doors by October 31. Media buzz indicates upscale department store Nordstrom
is moving in, bringing with it high end labels like Diane von Furstenberg and Jason Wu.
